The Sugar Club opened its doors as Dublin’s premier music venue in 1999. Formerly the Irish Film Theatre, the venue reflects its cinematic roots with plush, tiered banquette seating and a large screen available for projections—still often used to screen movies.
Over the last 20 years The Sugar Club has consolidated its place in Dublin nightlife by hosting a multitude of live music events, theatre productions, movie screenings, live podcast shows, panel discussions, conferences, art exhibitions, science shows, private parties, and a variety of other unique, specialised events.
We curate events ourselves as well as working with outside promoters, bookers, businesses, and individuals looking to put on events in a first-class venue. Our clients have ranged from Newstalk, Vodafone, AIB, Facebook, Google, FAI, MCD, AIKEN, ChoiceCuts, Pat Egan, and many more.
The venue specialises in hip-hop, jazz, soul, afrobeat and world music, hosting international and Irish artists across our programmes: Hozier, The Script, Roy Ayers, GZA, Thundercat, Erykah Badu, BADBADNOTGOOD, Charles Bradley, Lee Fields, Snarky Puppy, and Joey Dosik are just a few of the top-line artists who have performed here.
In addition to hosting world-class acts in our venue, we have a top-notch Funktion-One sound system, full in-house DJ equipment, a brand new laser projector and 4.5m x 3m screen for visuals and movie screenings, large outdoor terrace suitable for catering, outdoor DJ events and the like, alongside a pizza kitchen serving up delicious thin-crust pizzas, as well as a full bar to wash them down!
